Alternative Party Ideas

Coming up with interesting and new party ideas year after year can be a challenge. Having something different from what classmates have had and thinking of something totally original can be a nightmare. So I thought I would have a look and share some alternative party ideas with you. Ideas that are a little bit different but most importantly will be lots of fun.

Parties are one of the best things when you are young and getting invited to them is a great part of gaining confidence, independence and social skills. But the main point of a party is to celebrate and have lots of FUN!

But, deciding on what the party will be and picking something slightly different and a little bit more exciting can be difficult.  So I have found some local party ideas that are a little different, some slightly magical, some tasty and most importantly a lot of fun will be had at all.

Make a Bear & Sand Art parties – by Sussie Grose from Smile & Kids Bee Happy

Both these parties are very hands on and a great idea for all children, of all ages and abilities.

Unicorn Sand Art Picture

Sand Art is a great activity and is art made from coloured sand. There is a variety of designs on boards that have peel off sticky sections and then the coloured sand of choice is sprinkled on.

This is an example of a Unicorn Sand Art Picture.  This particular picture is slightly larger than A4. But the pictures come in a variety of sizes and shapes and a wide range of designs

The new addition to this business is the introduction of Make a Bear.  Who doesn’t love a Bear!

Make a Bear Club Party Package – Option 1 £18 per child includes: Bear Club Party invitations,

Mermaid Swimming Parties – The Swim Academy 

Who hasn’t dreamed of being Ariel The Little Mermaid? I know I did when I was younger and even now channelling your inner Mermaid is seen everywhere from beauty trends to on the catwalk. Well now you can celebrate your party in true Mermaid style with The Swim Academy based in Welwyn, Hertfordshire.

The parties are held by ‘Chief Mermaid’ Britney Sewell, in a private pool in Oaklands, Welwyn.  Britney has been a qualified swimming teacher for over 8 years and a Mermaid for many more!

The Mermaid Parties are an hour and half and include: Use of Mermaid tails & learning to swim like a mermaid. 1 hour structured play and also 15 minutes either side for changing.
The parties are for 2- 6 children per party depending on age and swimming ability. Children will also go home with their very own party bag.

Animal Encounter Parties – Codicote Reptiles

What a great snake!

The company name of this next alternative party idea should tell you what it will feature!

Codicote Reptiles will come to your party location for a hour or longer, depending on the amount of children and will bring a variety of animals for them to meet. Matthew will attend with a selection of snakes, lizards and other ‘creepy crawlies.’ He will do a short talk on each of the animals, which will be adjusted depending on the age of the children attending the party. During the talk the children will have chance to touch the animals and handle them. After the talk the children will have a chance to handle any of their favourite animals further.

Before the party all the animals are checked, to make sure they are happy to be handled and are fit and healthy.

Cookery Parties – Cookery Eatery

Lets get serious and talk about food! Who doesn’t love food and if your child also does then this is the ideal party for them!

Cookery Eatery is a business based in Hitchin, Hertfordshire and is run by Emma Ince-Goulding and offers a variety of cookery based activities. Including workshops, clubs and PARTIES!

The cooking parties are the perfect choice for your budding Jamie Oliver or Delia Smith. You can choose from a variety of themes for the food to based around. For example: Chinese, Indian or American – Hot Dogs & Fries! The parties can be held at any venue that has a kitchen or servery. You can even have the parties at home. Cookery Eatery take care of everything else including aprons, ingredients and utensils needed.

The Cookery Eatery party revolves around cooking and eating food. During the party the children prepare and cook dessert for the birthday child. While its baking, they craft a series of foods to eat for their lunch or tea. Invitations, party bags and thank you notes are also provided by Cookery Eatery.
